Are you considering giving your office a facelift or renovation to make it more functional? If so, you know this can be a stressful endeavor. It doesn’t have to be. Here are a few tips to make your commercial remodel project a success.

What’s the Plan?

Before you begin, make sure you know the plan. First, figure out what style you want. Do you want a more modern design? Or, something that adheres to the building’s original look?

Whatever your design preference, a clear vision will streamline the renovation. Failing to go in with a plan will make decisions harder as the work progresses. It could even cause you to need to undo completed work as your vision comes together.

Here are some design ideas to check out.

Be Patient and Plan for Emergencies

Build in enough time for delays. Your office renovation may take longer than you expect. It’s a good idea to consider renting a container building or another office space to work from during the construction process.

Also, you might run into emergencies, especially when dealing with older buildings. Make sure you build an extra ten percent into the budget for unforeseen costs.

Make the Building Space Work for You

Instead of ripping out quirky areas of the building design, work with what’s in there. Get creative about how the oddities (like exposed brick or ductwork) can work for you. You might find that eyesore becomes the conversational piece that brings out the uniqueness to your office. And, it will save you a bit of cash.

Sell Unwanted Materials

Why throw it away when you can sell it? Recoup some of that budget by selling any old appliances, fixtures, or tile. Also, check with local scrap dealers about older copper wires or metal material you want to get rid of.

Choose Wisely

You may not be able to renovate everything in your commercial remodel. Stick to the budget.
